Dried Apricot 2024 Crop Prospects

Welcome to the 2024 season, with quality products.

We are happy to share with you The Malatya Apricots Estimation 2024 crop report and our Analysis.

This report has been prepared in line with our observations by visiting the Malatya apricot growing regions.

  •     Apricots 2024 crop estimation and Analysis.

We received official report from agriculture chamber of Malatya, they estimating (107,517 M tons) for 2024 crop date on 14.06.2024.

Crop quantity appears to be lower than expected.

This season, rain, hail and frost had little negative impact on apricots.

  • Percentage of damage and quality

Frost, raining, speckled and Hail damage status

Rain during the flowering period partially damaged the crop.

The agricultural frost that occurred on March 23-24 caused partial damage in some regions.

Since the fruits are not exposed much to hail, there will be less hail damage to the crop this year.

it rained during the freckle pesticide release period, it rendered the medicine ineffective in some places, so the new crop will contain freckled fruits.

20-25% of the total crop is damaged.

The quality of the crop is very quality compared to last year.

High-level orchards (1000 meters and above) are exposed to a lot of rain during the flowering period, so the yield is low.

  • Other issues that will affect the 2024 crop.

Due to high inflation in Turkey, the costs of farmers and packers have increased greatly.

Farmers' pesticide, fertilizer, labor and fuel costs are unbearable.

They are calling on TMO (Turkish crop office) to prevent apricot prices from falling.

In some periods, TMO purchases products at high prices and in large quantities in order to prevent the price of the crop from falling, thus ensuring that the prices remain higher and more stable. In case of purchase, there will be no decreases at the expected rate in the market.

  • Estimated price development

Quality/price relationship is going be a major factor , temptation to reduce cost by increasing blemished content will be massive.

Labor costs are currently very high in Malatya and workers are scarce, though a recent influx of migrant workers is giving some relief.

Fresh fruit harvest will start Beginning of the July 2024, and fresh apricot raw material price estimated to be between   30 -35 TL

when we compare last crop it was  30-35  TL which one is used for the export and local market. (Almost the same price previous crop)

It is thought that the yield of fresh apricots will be 1/4 avarage when dried.

In the market, new crop product purchase price waiting:

It is estimated that the products in the season will be 120-130 TL with this yield.

Organic dried apricots raw material price not defined yet)

There will be a price difference between sizes in this product, the price difference between size 1 and size 6 in the previous season was low.

Compared to other size on the market, Jumbo size will be harder for you to find.

As the crop became more prominent, there was some decline in prices.

Since there is less product to carry over to the next season, the expectation that prices will fall until the new season has decreased.

We are waiting at least 7.000 tons export for the June and July.
